The inaugural edition of the Rugby Premier League has onboarded GMR Group as the Title Partner. Organised by Rugby India in collaboration with GMR Sports, Season 1 of the Rugby Premier League will be held in Mumbai from June 15 to June 29, 2025.

The partnership between the Rugby Premier League, the world’s first-ever franchise-based Rugby 7s tournament, and GMR reinforces the dedication to elevating the profile of rugby in India.

The inaugural edition of GMR RPL will feature six founding franchises, who will battle it out for the championship title.

Season 1 of the GMR Rugby Premier League kicks off on June 15, with a final scheduled on June 29, in Mumbai at the Shahaji Raje Bhosale Sports Complex (Andheri Sports Complex).

The Rugby Premier League has opened its doors to marquee international players from powerhouse Rugby 7s nations, including New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Fiji, Argentina, Great Britain, Ireland, USA and Spain. That apart, 18 international players from Canada, Hong Kong, and Germany will also feature in the tournament, enhancing the league’s competitive depth. GMR RPL Season 1 will feature 30 Indian players selected from an auction pool of 71.
