OpenAI has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Neptune.ai, an experiment tracker and model monitoring platform for machine learning (ML) teams.
Neptune.ai specializes in experiment tracking and training-run monitoring, offering researchers a clear window into complex model behavior as it unfolds.
The company has recently been working closely with OpenAI to refine tools capable of comparing thousands of runs, analyzing metrics across layers, and identifying issues early in the development cycle.
OpenAI acquired Neptune.ai to bolster the tooling and infrastructure behind advanced AI research. The deal brings deeper visibility, faster iteration, and greater analytical precision to the training of next-generation models.
The acquisition is expected to accelerate OpenAI’s frontier research efforts by enhancing experiment transparency, improving training efficiency, and strengthening decision-making across the model-development lifecycle.
Jakub Pachocki, Chief Scientist at OpenAI, said, “Neptune has built a fast, precise system that allows researchers to analyze complex training workflows. We plan to iterate with them to integrate their tools deep into our training stack to expand our visibility into how models learn.”
Piotr Niedźwiedź, founder and CEO of Neptune.ai, said, “We’ve always believed that good tools help researchers do their best work. Joining OpenAI gives us the chance to bring that belief to a new scale.”
