Hoopr, a music licensing platform, has raised ₹4 crore in the first tranche of its pre-Series A funding round led by Inflection Point Ventures (IPV), with participation from multiple family offices and existing investors.
This round values the company at ₹160 crore post-money and brings its total capital raised to ₹18 crore. Hoopr is engaged in advanced talks with several investors to raise more capital in this round.
The fresh funds raised will be used to accelerate the expansion of Hoopr Smash, a Hoopr’s self-serve, automated music licensing marketplace, while deepening its Bollywood, regional, and global music catalogues. This growth will unlock new monetization avenues for artists, composers, and music labels alike.
The funds will also be used to strengthen product innovation, scale talent, and fuel global expansion, as Hoopr works to align its catalog with international markets and onboard global music for licensing in India.
Hoopr will also continue to invest in and strengthen its AI-driven product advancements, from intelligent auto-tagging and copyright detection to creative content generation tools, all underpinned by a transparent, tech-first revenue model that safeguards brands and ensures fair payouts to creators.
Founded in 2021 by Gaurav Dagaonkar and Meghna Mittal, Hoopr is a music licensing marketplace that provides copyright-free music with an extensive library of 12,000+ music tracks and sound effects (SFX) for content creators and brands to use in their videos, vlogs, podcasts, films, ad campaigns and apps.
Hoopr Smash offers intelligent discovery tools, curated playlists, and quick licensing options, ensuring users can easily find the perfect track for their project.
It also serves as a revenue-generating opportunity for musicians by paying them half of the licensing fees after the upfront costs are recovered.
By providing legally compliant music with just a few clicks, it empowers creators and brands to elevate their content while ensuring fair compensation for artists.
It caters to 250,000+ creators, 100+ brands, and filmmakers. Hoopr has onboarded over 30,000 creators, including Chef Ranveer Brar, Ashish Vidyarthi, Tanya Khanijow, Mr. Indian Hacker, Flying Beast, Rajesh Rawani and more than 180 B2B clients, including leading brands such as Myntra, Marico, Sony LIV, Mumbai Indians, Meesho, Himalaya, Cadbury, and others.
Hoopr has also partnered with Yash Raj Films Music, Universal Music, Saga Music, Merchant Records, and Adobe, while working closely with the Indian Performing Rights Society (IPRS) to set new benchmarks for transparency and accountability in music licensing.
Over the past three years, Hoopr has collaborated with 300+ independent artists across 21 regional labels, disbursing more than ₹4.5 crore in royalties.
Gaurav Dagaonkar, Co-founder & CEO, Hoopr, said, “At Hoopr, our vision is to shape the future of India’s creator economy by empowering musicians, enabling brands, and driving the next wave of the digital music revolution. With 4.4x growth since inception and 300% revenue growth this year, we’re now expanding globally and unlocking new monetization models for creators and brands. Over the next five years, we aim to build the world’s most trusted and intelligent music licensing platform — one that connects creativity and commerce seamlessly while strengthening India’s position on the global music map.”
Mitesh Shah, Co-Founder, IPV, said, “India’s creator economy is exploding, and Hoopr’s stepped in right where people need them ~ making copyright-safe music easy to get for anyone making digital content. With so many videos coming up everywhere everyday, their licensing solution just lands at the perfect moment. At IPV, we’re excited to back Hoopr. Their goal to create India’s biggest music licensing ecosystem and take it worldwide feels just right for where the industry’s headed.”
Meghna Mittal, Co-founder & CRO, Hoopr, said, “Our technology forms the backbone that makes Hoopr scalable, transparent, and future-ready. This investment will fuel our AI-led innovation — enhancing efficiency, accountability, and brand protection while empowering creators like never before. As the creator-brand economy evolves, technology will define the future of music licensing — where every use is traceable, every creator is fairly rewarded, and every brand is protected. By strengthening our tech infrastructure, we’re building Hoopr to lead this transformation in India and beyond.”
