The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has blocked 25 OTT platforms and their mobile apps, including prominent services like Ullu, ALTT, Desi Flix, Big Shots, Boomex, Navarasa Lite, and Gulab App for allegedly hosting obscene, vulgar, and adult content.

The government ordered Internet Service Providers to block access to the app and websites in July 2025 over alleged obscene and unlawful content.

A notification issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) emphasised that the intermediaries are responsible for removing or disabling access to unlawful information under the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

The government directive, issued under the IT Act, 2000, and the Digital Media Ethics Code Rules, 2021, invoked intermediary liability provisions, specifically Section 79(3)(b) and Rule 3(1)(d).
