ZappFresh, a Delhi-based meat delivery D2C brand, has acquired Mumbai-based Bonsaro, which specializes in the online delivery of seafood, goat, and poultry.
With this move, ZappFresh has taken over the entire operations and business of Bonsaro, including all assets, to expand its presence in the western region, including Navi Mumbai, Pune, and other satellite towns, within the next year, as per the press release.
This acquisition is much aligned with the expansion plan of ZappFresh and will enable it to cater to a larger customer base and establish itself as a leading player in the D2C meat market in western India.
The combined expertise of ZappFresh and Bonsaro may drive operational excellence through seamless service, hygiene, and top-notch quality, claimed the press release. With this, the company is anticipating a revenue of 160 crore in FY 24-25 with a significant jump in PAT.
Commenting on the deal, Deepanshu Manchanda, the founder of ZappFresh, said, “Our acquisition of Bonsaro is a pivotal moment for ZappFresh. By integrating Bonsaro into our portfolio, we are poised to build a pan-India brand that operates in key markets. Mumbai, being a critical market, will contribute significantly to our footprint in the west. Our expansion strategy remains disciplined—we expand one city at a time, ensuring profitability without compromising our bottom line. We only venture into new markets once we achieve break-even.”
Licious and FreshToHome are the other players in the meat delivery segment. In July 2023, ZappFresh had acquired Sukos Foods-owned Dr. Meat.
ZappFresh as a D2C brand has garnered support from notable investors, including SIDBI VC, Dabur Family Office, Letsventure, Keritsu Forum, HT, and several prominent angels from the food and tech sectors.
As per the press release, ZappFresh turned profitable 2 years back and has achieved several milestones in its business strategy.
