Trident Growth Partners (TGP), an Indian private equity firm focused on growth stage investments, announced a ₹120 crore investment to lead the funding round in Credit Wise Capital (CWC), a Mumbai-based non-banking financial company (NBFC) focused on two-wheeler and MSME lending.

This marks TGP’s second major investment from its maiden fund, with a ₹2,000 crore target size, reinforcing the firm’s drive to invest in category-leading growth-stage companies across India’s rapidly growing economy.

The investment is part of a ₹200 crore funding round and represents Credit Wise Capital’s 1st institutional capital raise.

The funds will be used to expand Credit Wise Capital’s access to credit across India’s underserved Tier 2–4 cities. This fresh capital will be used to significantly grow its assets under management over the next 3 years, expand into other secured lending segments, and strengthen its proprietary technology platform that enables real-time, customer-focused credit experiences for underserved communities.

Founded by Aalesh Avlani and Gurpreet Singh Sodhi, Credit Wise Capital is focused on two-wheeler financing and MSME lending. Credit Wise Capital currently manages an asset base of ₹645 crore (as of March 2025), up from ₹489 crore in March 2024, with a capital adequacy ratio of 31.2%. The company has financed over 200,000 two-wheelers and has established a strong presence across 215 cities in 10 Indian states.

Trident Growth Partner has secured over ₹1,000 crore in commitments in the first close of its debut fund earlier this year, backed by leading family offices, institutions, and more than 30 seasoned founders who have built and scaled businesses in India and beyond.

Atul Gupta, Managing Partner, Trident Growth Partners, said, “This is a pivotal milestone for TGP and a clear reflection of our investment thesis to partner with founder-led, high-growth companies driving real impact in India’s consumption and financial ecosystems. We were particularly impressed by CWC’s phygital distribution model, disciplined book quality, and deep focus on customer experience. In addition to creating tremendous value for all key stakeholders, this investment will drive financial penetration, as it provides much-needed access to finance for Bharat’s next 500 million consumers.”

Rajesh Ramaiah, Managing Partner, Trident Growth Partners, said, “Credit Wise Capital exemplifies the kind of execution-first, digitally enabled businesses TGP aims to support. They are addressing a clear structural gap with a scalable, tech-enabled model and an unwavering focus on customer engagement. Alongside capital, TGP will serve as a long-term partner to CWC, supporting the company with governance, strategic inputs, and access to its ecosystem of operating advisors and founder networks. We see a long runway ahead for them to become a full-stack financial partner to India’s emerging middle class.”

Aalesh Avlani, Co-founder, Credit Wise Capital, said, “We are thrilled to partner with Trident Growth Partners as we enter this next phase of growth. Their confidence in our mission validates what we’ve always believed, that expanding credit in small-town India isn’t just a business imperative, it’s a national need. With their support, we’re poised to scale our reach, deepen our tech stack, and move closer to building a customer-first lending institution.”

Gurpreet Singh Sodhi, Co-founder, Credit Wise Capital, said, “TGP brings more than capital to the table, they bring strategic depth and shared conviction. As we scale our offerings across two-wheeler and MSME loans, their insights will be invaluable in building an institution rooted in trust, agility, and operational excellence.”
