Salt Media Entertainment (SMEPL), a part of the RVCJ Group, announced that award-winning British Afghan filmmaker and storyteller Najia Khaan has joined the company as Director and Producer for Documentaries and Special Films.
A filmmaker whose work bridges continents, cultures, and emotions, Najia Khaan brings with her a remarkable body of work defined by truth, empathy, and visual poetry. Known for her critically acclaimed documentary Finding Soraya (2016), filmed entirely in Afghanistan, Najia has continued to captivate audiences worldwide through films such as Bacha Bereesh – Shadows of Innocence and Empire of the Moon. Her narratives often explore resilience, identity, and the human spirit, reflecting her signature storytelling style that challenges, inspires, and transforms.
Najia’s latest documentary, Bacha Bereesh – Shadows of Innocence, has been officially selected for screening at the prestigious Asian World Film Festival in Los Angeles, an event celebrating excellence in global cinema. In a landmark moment for South Asian cinema, Najia has also been invited to serve as a Jury Member at the festival, a rare honor for a British-Afghan filmmaker whose cinematic voice continues to transcend borders.
