Ahead of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026), leg-spinner Mayank Markande is set to return to the Mumbai Indians after being traded from three-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
The 28-year-old, who has played one T20I for India and had been acquired by KKR for ₹30 lakh, will join the Mumbai Indians at his existing fee.
Markande began his IPL journey with MI, playing for them in 2018, 2019, and 2022. He later played for Rajasthan Royals (2021) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (2023 and 2024). He has taken 37 wickets in 37 IPL matches.
It will be a homecoming for Markande, who had taken three wickets in his debut game for the Mumbai Indians in 2019. He also played for India that season.
