Brigade Group, a Bengaluru-based real estate company and Gruhas, the investment platform co-founded by Nikhil Kamath and Abhijeet Pai, announced the launch of a dedicated fund for property technology (proptech) and sustainability-driven startups. The fund also aims to collaborate with the government to address nationwide issues.
Both partners have contributed about 15% each to the new ₹300 crore Earth Fund including ₹100 crore in green shoe option is a SEBI-registered Category II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) that will invest in pre-series A and series A stage startups operating in real estate, construction, and sustainability domains.
The Earth Fund will invest in Pre-Series A and Series A startups, with a funding range of $1-2 million per company. In its initial phase, the goal of the fund is to build a portfolio of 10-15 startups that have already demonstrated product-market fit and are looking to scale their solutions.
The fund will focus on disruptive technologies in urbantech, including proptech, construction technology, real estate solutions, and asset utilisation. Additionally, it will back sustainability-focused startups working in climate tech, clean energy, smart mobility, and resource efficiency.
Brigade REAP, the real estate group’s accelerator programme and invested in over 80 urban tech and sustainability startups, will provide industry support, market access, and strategic guidance to investee companies. Gruhas, which has invested in more than 50 proptech, climate tech, sustainability, and consumer startups, focuses on identifying and nurturing high-impact ventures.
