Ortella Global Capital (OG Capital) has launched its ₹300 crore ($36 million) venture capital fund. Positioned as India’s first VC fund focused on co-building companies with founders, OG Capital is targeting early and growth-stage startups across the consumer and enterprise sectors.
The fund plans to invest in over 20 companies up to ₹15 crore ($2 million) each and has already backed three promising startups.
Leveraging its co-building model, OG Capital provides hands-on operational support across growth phases along with funding.
“Our vision at OG Capital is to redefine early-stage investing by going beyond just writing cheques. We believe in rolling up our sleeves and co-building alongside founders to tackle the big challenges head-on, helping them build high growth, profitable and impactful businesses,” said Sayan Ghosh, Managing Partner of OG Capital.
“We are not only targeting 10x returns for our investors but are also co-building companies that prioritize grassroots-level impact, sustainability and gender diversity. The venture capital ecosystem in India is still in its infancy, with annual investments amounting to less than US$ 10 Bn. The ecosystem’s direct and indirect impacts are expected to spur innovation and growth across various industries, significantly contributing to India’s goal of achieving the US$ 5 Tn GDP,” he added.
Sayan brings over a decade of experience as an entrepreneur, an investment banker and an investor. Most recently, during his time at the World Bank, he was instrumental in driving standout investments and exits for companies like Lenskart, upGrad, 1mg, and BigBasket. He has a proven track record of delivering exits worth more than ₹1500 crore (~$200 million) at a 40% CAGR. In addition, as a limited partner, he has deployed ₹2500 crore (~$300 million) after evaluating over 350 funds, including venture capital, growth equity, private equity and venture debt funds across India.
