CMS Info Systems, a business services company offering banking logistics and technology services, announced the appointment of Sunil Mehta, former Chief Executive of the Indian Bank’s Association and former MD & CEO of Punjab National Bank, as Additional Director (Independent).
With a career spanning over four decades, Sunil Mehta has played a pivotal role in shaping and advancing India’s banking sector through policy advocacy and collaboration with various stakeholders, making him a seasoned banker par excellence. As the Chief Executive of the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), Mehta was recognized as the “Voice of the Indian Banking Industry,” and led the second largest Public Sector Bank as MD & CEO of Punjab National Bank, overseeing a vast financial conglomerate with operations in international banking, housing finance, life insurance, and more. His career also includes a significant tenure as Executive Director at Corporation Bank.
Currently, Mehta holds several board-level positions, including Chairman of PSB Alliance, and Independent Director roles at Jio Financial Services, Jio Payments Bank, Juniper Hotels, and more. He has also served as Chairman of NARCL and IBA, and continues to shape the future of the Indian banking and financial sectors through his leadership and insights. He was also a part of RBI Committee for setting up 75 Digital Banking Units (DBUs).
Mehta holds a Master’s degree in Agronomy and an MBA in Finance, along with being a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). His expertise is further demonstrated through active participation in various government and industry committees, including those with the RBI, CII, FICCI, Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) and the Ministry of Steel’s Taskforce on Green Finance.
