Bhanzu, a maths learning platform, has raised $16.5 million in its Series B funding round led by Epiq Capital and Z3 Partners. The round also saw participation from existing investors Lightspeed Ventures and Eight Roads.
With this new capital, Bhanzu aims to extend its offerings, develop advanced teaching tools, and potentially expand into new global markets. The funding will also allow Bhanzu to strengthen its curriculum, invest in high-quality resources, and drive product innovation to reach students in India and beyond. The Hyderabad-based company plans to reach 100 million students over the next five years by expanding further in India, and entering the US, UK, and Middle Eastern markets.
Bhanzu has raised over $33 million, including a $15 million Series A investment led by Eight Roads Ventures in September 2022.
Speaking on the investments, Neelakantha Bhanu, Founder and CEO, Bhanzu, said, “This funding is a major milestone in our mission to transform how children learn math. With this support, we will expand further, refine our platform, and create a global math learning experience – built in India, for the world. We are excited to expand our hands-on approach to the US, UK, Middle East, and other countries.”
“The US maths education market has significant potential, but it is dominated by large, billion-dollar companies that have not innovated their curricula or effectively embraced technology. This gap creates a significant opportunity for Bhanzu to revolutionize maths education in the US,” he added.
He further said, “Backed by advanced Artificial Intelligence, Bhanzu customises lessons to each student’s needs, making learning smoother and enjoyable. This adaptive approach keeps students engaged, builds their confidence, and prepares them for exams and real-world challenges.”
Rishi Maheshwari, Managing Partner, Z3Partners, said, “This investment fits into our thesis of outcome-driven education, where the strength of the product drives growth. This is evident in the positive unit economics and global growth the company is witnessing. The company is currently at an inflexion point to turbocharge growth profitably and sustainably.”
“From the time we met Neelakantha Bhanu 18 months ago, Bhanzu has evolved into a global math education platform using its unique pedagogical approach combined with the use of advanced AI to shape learning outcomes across geographies. Additionally, Bhanu has built a solid team and a robust business model, which continues to have a strong growth trajectory while being cash flow positive,” added Epiq Capital’s Partner, Chinmay Katdare.
Founded in 2020 by Neelakantha Bhanu, who holds a world record as the fastest human calculator, Bhanzu offers experiential math learning programs for children aged 5 to 16. Bhanzu’s curriculum is designed to foster cognitive skills through interactive math courses. To date, the company has trained over 30,000 students globally, spanning regions like India, the US, the UK, and the Middle East.
