Beyond Renewables & Recycling, a climate-tech startup specializing in sustainable and high-value solar panel recycling, has raised ₹5 crore in its pre-seed funding round led by Momentum Capital, a U.S.-based venture capital firm.
The round also saw participation from Venture Catalysts, IIMA Ventures, Oorjan Cleantech, and Gautam Das (founder of Oorjan).
The funds raised will be used for the development of its proprietary recycling technology, enhancing its waste collection and supply chain network, and scaling up operations to tackle India’s growing solar waste challenge.
Founded in 2024 by Manhar Dixit and Vedant Taneja, Beyond Renewables & Recycling is a sustainability-focused startup creating a circular economy for the solar industry.
Beyond Renewables aims to solve this problem through its proprietary, eco-efficient recycling process that recovers more than 95% of high-value materials from discarded solar panels. By combining advanced thermal and chemical treatment technologies, the company extracts aluminum, glass, copper, silicon, and precious metals such as silver with exceptional purity levels.
The company has also established a multi-channel sourcing strategy, collaborating with solar asset developers, EPC contractors, manufacturers, and dismantlers to ensure a consistent flow of end-of-life panels. Unlike conventional recyclers that depend on low-efficiency mechanical methods, Beyond Renewables emphasizes eco-effective and high-value recovery techniques that maximize both environmental and economic benefits.
After extensive R&D and process validation, Beyond Renewables has begun commissioning its first large-scale industrial recycling facility in Rajasthan. The company already has over 2,000 metric tons of solar waste secured in its processing pipeline and is expanding partnerships with module manufacturers, EPC companies, and solar asset owners to ensure steady material inflow.
Supported by IIT Mandi Catalyst and NSRCEL, Beyond Renewables is also strengthening its sales channels and has received letters of intent (LOIs) from multiple buyers for recycled materials such as glass, silicon, and metals.
Ankur Shrivastava, Managing Partner at Momentum Capital, said, “Beyond Renewables’ mission aligns perfectly with the fund’s vision of backing deep-tech startups addressing pressing environmental challenges. “The solar waste problem is not a distant issue — it’s an immediate and accelerating threat. Beyond Renewables’ advanced technology, strategic partnerships, and clear execution roadmap make it ideally positioned to lead this emerging sector, which is projected to become a ₹20,000 crore market by 2040. We’re proud to support their efforts to build a sustainable and circular future for India’s solar industry.”
Manhar Dixit, CEO of Beyond Renewables & Recycling, said, “With India’s solar installations now exceeding 127 GW and domestic manufacturing capacity on the rise, sustainability must extend from production to disposal. This funding led by Momentum Capital validates our vision and strengthens our ability to deliver a fully circular, environmentally sound recycling solution. We’re not just recycling panels; we’re converting waste into a national resource and shaping a sustainable future.”
